Join us on August 6, 2026, for a one-hour webinar with Michelle Hilburn, MSN, RN, CPHQ, CPPS, AVP of Quality, Compliance & Standards at Vastian, as she explores why workforce engagement in QAPI activities so often falls short — and what healthcare Quality leaders can do about it. Michelle will examine how traditional Quality workflows — fragmented spreadsheets, siloed systems, manual data entry, delayed feedback loops, and limited frontline visibility — quietly undermine staff participation, slow improvement timelines, and contribute to underreporting and burnout. The session reframes the central question from "How do we get staff more engaged?" to "How do we redesign workflows so engagement is natural?" and lays out the core principles of engagement-driven design: simplicity, transparency, responsiveness, integration, and automation. Attendees will see what an integrated Quality Management System looks like in practice, comparing the "before" state of manual, passive participation to an "after" state of automated workflows, connected data, real-time notifications, and active engagement. Michelle will demonstrate how an integrated QMS embeds QAPI into daily work, shifting it from episodic to continuous and driving measurable gains in incident reporting rates, staff participation, action-item turnaround, and perceptions of leadership responsiveness. Participants will leave with practical implementation considerations, key metrics to track, and a clear call to action: start redesigning the workflows themselves rather than simply asking for more engagement.

Objectives:

  1. Describe why workforce engagement in QAPI activities often falls short.
  1. Identify barriers created by traditional Quality workflows.
  1. Analyze how automation + integration that comes from implementing an electronic Quality Management System transforms workforce participation.
  1. Apply practical strategies for leveraging engagement, efficiency, and improving Quality and safety outcomes by using a QMS when executing QAPI and patient safety activities.
